Salinas is served by Salinas Municipal Airport, which is nestled about 3 miles southeast of Salinas. It is used for general aviation purpose. California International AirShow is held every year at this airport in early autumn or late summer, thus attracting thousands of visitors every year.

The commercial airlines serve the Monterey Regional Airport, which is nestled in the nearby city- Monterey. It is located about 16 miles from Salinas. Amtrak serves Salinas. Amtrak offers Coast Starlight train everyday that rolls in the city twice daily, with stop at the Salinas Amtrak Station. It travels everyday to and fro between Los Angeles and Seattle, running through several stations, along the way, including Salinas Station.

Getting to Salinas by Car

It is easy to get to Salinas by car as the city is served by several highways-

U.S. Route 101: It is the main north-south highway in the city, connecting Salinas to the Central Coast Region, Los Angeles to the south, and San Francisco to the north. 

State highways 183 and 68 connect with Highway 1. California State Route 183 connects Salinas to Castroville, and State Route 68 connects Salinas to Monterey to the west. The drive from Monterey to Salinas is a scenic route.

Public transportation in Salinas is offered via bus service.  Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) Salinas Transit Center operates bus service in the Monterey County, mainly to Salinas and greater Monterey.  Salinas Transit Center connects the long-distance rails to bus travel within the Monterey County and Salinas.  It also extends to San Jose and Watsonville to the north and Big Sur and Paso Robles to the south. Monterey-Salinas AirBus connects Salinas to San Francisco and San Jose airports.
